How we do the work
We follow the same eight steps on every case. Understand, structure, investigate, interpret, challenge, validate, advise, clarify. What you get back is short and useful. It is not a long report of things you could have looked up yourself.
We separate evidence from opinion
We label every finding so you know how much weight to give it:
- A fact we checked ourselves
- Public information anyone can look up
- Something we saw with our own eyes
- Our judgement, based on experience
- What local people say
- Something you told us
- A claim we could not confirm
People decide, not software
We use software to sort and check information. It saves you effort. It does not make the decision. No report reaches you without a person reviewing it and the LocalBench checking it. You will never get an automatic answer dressed up as advice.
We state our limits
Some things need a lawyer, a surveyor, an accountant, or a doctor. When yours does, we say so and point you to the right person. Knowing where we stop is part of the job.
Freshness matters
Places change with the season and the year. We write down when we saw something. We tell you which facts to check again before you commit.
